“Let’s cut pollution for next generation’s sake
Several weeks ago I attended my granddaughter’s second birthday party. In a few days my grandson will be born. What I and others do now about greenhouse gas emissions will make their lives challenging — or chaotic and dangerous — and perhaps not survivable.
In the midst of news about more wildfires, longer droughts, stronger hurricanes, rising sea levels, forced mass migrations, and a rapid rate of animal and plant extinctions, Initiative 1631 — with its actions to move us away from fossil fuel burning towards clean energy — provides me some hope. I’m glad that we Washingtonians are doing what we can, where we are, to change humanity’s destructive course.
By campaigning for, and by voting yes on I-1631 I can do something good about climate change, and I can do something good for my grandchildren.
