Love and Marriage

Marriage is loving in real time. It is two people who share wonderful experiences, but who also grow through the challenges that living intimately entails. Marriage immerses us in learning how to live with and how to love one another, and, as with achieving any good thing, marriage requires work, time, and attentiveness.

God provided a road map, though. For a marriage journey to continue and to thrive requires that we demonstrate and develop the qualities described in First Corinthians 13:4-8:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Easily read; a life’s work to do.

God gifted marriage to us as a powerful, real-life, real-time, intimate and enriching means of learning how we should live, how we should love, and how we should treat one another. And for that I thank God.

Thank you, God, for my wonderful wife and for my marriage.
