Lots of ballroom dancing occurs in Kitsap County. This dance calendar is divided into (1) dances, public invited; (2) lessons, public invited; (3) dances, private clubs; and (4) other ballroom dance news.


14 Dec 2019: Kitsap’s 2nd Saturday Ballroom Dance [Bainbridge Island]
JUST DANCE! (sponsored by Educated Feet)

21 Dec 2019: Kitsap’s 3rd Saturday Ballroom Dance:
Holiday Ball (sponsored by USA Dance Kitsap)
Dress: Semiformal. Please feel free to wear your seasonal sparkle or fun Christmas tie! Many dancers will be wearing suits and cocktail dresses, but all are welcome. Nice, casual dress for those not dressing semiformal.

7−8 p.m.                 Complementary Night Club Two Step dance lesson with Terry West
(Night Club Two Step is a romantic, slow dance that is easy to learn.)
8−10:30 p.m.          Open dancing with music by DJ Terry West.

Location: Bremerton Masonic Hall, 878 5th St, Bremerton WA
Costs: $12 per person (non-member), $8 per person (member), $5 Student.

What: Terry plays a variety of music so that everyone can get on the dance floor. You’ll hear West Coast swing, East Coast swing, waltz, night club two step, rumba, country two-step, foxtrot, cha-cha, tango, salsa, and others. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are available for when you want to sit down, rest, and talk.
USA Dance Kitsap dances are social dances. Feel free to ask others to dance. Ladies, please don’t be shy about asking gentlemen to dance. All dance skill-levels are welcome.

Monday-night ballroom-dance lessons, sponsored by USA Dance Kitsap
Each 4-week lessons series starts the first Monday of each month.
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Cost per four-week session: $40 (or $32 for USA Dance members)—or $12 per class for drop-ins (just $5 per class for students).  As always, singles are welcome!

Note: Soleman and Angei are taking a holiday from lessons during the holiday period, so there are no West Coast Wednesday Swing lessons for the rest of November and December 2019. They will start lessons again 8 Jan 2020.

– When: most Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Jan’s classes on hold for the holidays until 9 Jan 2020.

– Who: Public is invited. Partners not required. Students are requested to arrive 15 minutes early for class registration. Leather-soled shoes or regular dance shoes recommended. Sunday afternoon lessons [Eagles Club in Port Orchard]
Lessons Sunday from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. and then open dancing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Note: At private-club dances you must be a member or a guest of a member to attend. Both the Elks and the Eagles allow nonmembers to attend dances if they take lessons before the dance and are signed in by the dance instructor.

The “Tea Dance”  12:30 – 3:00 p.m.    Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Note: nonmembers can attend lessons, be signed in as guests of the instructors (Jan and Mary), and then attend the open dancing (cost: $5 nonmembers, $3 members; this money is applied to charitable causes).

Winter Club dances [Bremerton]
Winter Club hosts a formal (tuxedos and gowns . . . suits and cocktail dresses) dinner-dance on the first Saturday night of each month for six Saturdays (Oct, Nov, Dec, Feb., Mar, and Apr). Suits and cocktail dresses are OK for guests. The April dance is a very popular costume dance, and the theme for the April 2020 dance is Mad Hatters tea party (from Alice in Wonderland).
